Black Oak & Butterscotch Amber Rectangle No. 5 is a very bold and very beautiful chunk of butterscotch amber. Gorgeous black oak wood grains combine with cloudy pale wisps of cream and white flowing into the opaque amber. The amber glows as a welcoming beacon under a doorway. The shaping and grains of the wood add to the power of the piece.
Of her work with amber and wood, the artist, Dorota Kos of Gdansk, Poland has this to say: " The idea is to combine the materials so they form a unity. Wood and amber are the ....the present and the past, the combination of two materials representing warmth, light and life."
